Brad: I grew up in a Christian family. My oldest brother shared with me the good news of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I placed my trust in Him when I was five years old. I'm presently working alongside the Hungarian Evangelical Church in Budapest. Kari: I placed my trust in Jesus Christ for salvation when I heard the gospel at the age of 14 at a Young Life camp.

Magyar Mullets February 2011 Newsletter

Dear Family and Friends,
We send our greetings from Hungary with Spring just around the corner. I stepped outside one morning and enjoyed a ray of sun, just before Central Europe’s clouds rushed to block it again. That cold, but sunny morning, the words of a familiar hymn kept coming to mind, “Praise to the Lord who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; surely His mercy and goodness here daily attend thee. Ponder anew, what the Almighty can do if with His love He befriend thee.” (1680, Neander) The entire hymn from beginning to end is worth reading a few hundred times-- any given verse gives me ample encouragement.

We packed a lot into February: in addition to our regular ministry schedule, we had a four-day team meeting outside of Budapest, two basketball tournaments, a construction team from Wisconsin, and some guests in our home. You probably noticed that our last two letters came out a little later than usual. That’s been my difficulty. Our team had a productive four days away at the beginning of the month with facilitators from Crystal Lake EFC. They have been partners in Hungary for many years and we’re grateful for their investment in our team this year. Thank you for praying for Jacob’s recovery to good health. We hurried home that weekend to prepare for the Senior Auction for Jacob’s class trip and the following weekend’s basketball tournament. Jacob’s team took the championship and his fan got a picture with him after the victory. This past weekend we were in Salzburg for the Danube Valley tournament and his team also won that championship game. What a way for Jacob to finish out his senior year—his was the first class to go from kindergarten through 12th grade. Kari is already talking about adopting someone’s kids so she can still be part of changing lives at the International Christian School of Budapest. www.icsbudapest.org

Another highlight of the month was hosting five Rhinos from Wisconsin and one from Georgia. We call them Rhinos because they’re fast over short distances, only see what’s close at hand and can deal with it, and have thick hide for protection against falling bricks and bare wires. This year they built a copier cove in the main hallway, remodeled our office, and knocked out a bunch of small projects in the ministry center. The team was comprised of Pastor Joe, Pastor Frank, Pastor Rob, Mike, Jon, and Aaron. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty for those who took part in sending them to us. “Hast thou not seen, how thy desires ever have been, granted in what He ordaineth?” I have seen.

Last Sunday our new kitchen ware was given a trial run for upcoming Alpha courses. Zoli cooked up supper for the Kelenfold Evangelical Church. It’s critical that I get faucets and drains plumbed, so I don’t have to do the pots and pans in Mark Jensen’s shower. We’re excited about the advances being made in the various ministries meeting weekly and the ever increasing anticipation of what the Almighty can do.

Joachim Neander (1650-1680) penned the words to the hymns from which I’ve been encouraged this month. “Write thou deeply in my heart, what I am, and what Thou art.” We’re humbled to have been appointed to labor in Hungary in partnership with you. Richest Blessings in Christ, Brad, for all of us
