Brad: I grew up in a Christian family. My oldest brother shared with me the good news of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I placed my trust in Him when I was five years old. I'm presently working alongside the Hungarian Evangelical Church in Budapest. Kari: I placed my trust in Jesus Christ for salvation when I heard the gospel at the age of 14 at a Young Life camp.

Magyar Mullets May 2011 Prayer Letter

Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings from Hungary. Thank you for partnering with us. My delight will be to see you rewarded for your obedience in sending and sustaining us as missionaries in Hungary. I’m encouraged by what I see God doing in the lives of His people. I have three items to share with you in this letter: a summary of activities in May, a brief on our family and finally some words on our upcoming home assignment and our support level.

Kari and I continue to lead our respective English discussion groups on a weekly basis. We have the best time sharing our lives with our students and learning about them. This week many of our students are in an intensive week of language practice with a short term team from Chicago. We’re praying that God will use the team to proclaim his message to Hungarians: Be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ. The last Saturday in May, Children’s Day in Hungary, we had an all church outreach to our community from the coffeehouse terrace. The church, with the Montage Arts team did an amazing job of organizing the day and loving on children and their parents. A dear friend and elder in our church put together a video of the day. Take a look at it. He was Whitney’s wedding photographer and he will fly to Missouri to photograph Kelsey’s wedding October 8th. http://photos.sandorbalint.com/Events/20110528KEGyGyereknap/17391433_MBck2S

I got to know some servant-hearted-honeymooners in May: Joseph and Kayla Stagnaro. We built a loft together for a family in our church which needed more space for their four children. Days ran together with nights and our lives overlapped with others. It was a blessed full month.

There were many “lasts” for our family in May. Our last child, Jacob, had his last day of high school, last awards ceremony, and last banquet. Kelsey had her last visit home before she gets married. We drove our family car for the last time before it sold. We attended our last Family Field Day. I dare not write another last. Kari and I will have been married 27 years on June 16th. We will have had kids at home for 25 of those years. We’ve talked and prayed about the adjustments coming up. Some of our conclusions thus far: We believe God would have us continue the work here in Hungary, so that much won’t change. Lord willing, we will return to Hungary the middle of October. We will become grandparents for the first time in December.

We will be on home-assignment from the end of June through the middle of October. We don’t take for granted that God provides through His people. We also understand that God moves and directs in such a manner to increase our faith and dependence on him. It is our desire to give each of you a personal account of the ministry and to the best of our ability to give an account of what we’ve seen God do in the last two years—all to the praise of His glory. If all of you as financial supporters are able to continue supporting us for our next two year term as you did for the last one, then we lack $500 in monthly support. If for some reason you must change your support level, please let us know in order that God might provide for others to invest in the work here with us, or to give us indication that He is directing our lives in another way. Thank you in advance for your prayer and consideration in this matter. We’re deeply grateful for your involvement in our lives and in the lives of Hungarians.

In Christ, Brad and Kari
