Magyar Mullets June 2011 Prayer Letter
Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Independence Day! We’re happy to report we are in the USA. June saw the wrap up of the Alpha Course at the ministry center and a wonderful celebration supper cooked up in the coffee house kitchen by chef Zoli. It was encouraging to hear the interviews of some of the participants—especially from the lady who repented and trusted Christ through the course. We also had a great closing to our small group at Náncsi Néni’s, our favorite restaurant in the hills. It’s getting harder and harder to leave Hungary for home assignment each time we have to hand over ministry responsibilities to others, especially when we know what we’re missing out on. On the other hand, we’re grateful to God for the capable laborers he’s appointed to carry on in our absence. Our church planting effort sits solidly on a three-legged stool: a missionary presence, a national church presence, and partner church involvement. At this time, our missionary
teammates organize ministries and steward facilities, the Hungarian churches supply servant laborers and translators from a local led community of believers, and our partner churches supply servant laborers and necessary resources. It’s true: we can do more and do it better when we do it together, each one giving sacrificially unto the Lord.
This summer while we visit churches and individuals, we pray that what you hear and understand about the work in Hungary will cause you to give praise to God. Seeing pictures that people are posting on Facebook of the Kids English camp is proof enough that God leads His people in accomplishing His work. Praise God for the commitment of Grace Community Chapel, St.Peters, MO, to field a team every year for the kids English camp. In a couple weeks, a team from The Orchard, EFC,IL will field a team to lead our two-week Teen English camp. Many of the current members of our churches first heard and responded to the gospel while attending an English camp. Pray that the messengers would be faithful bearers of the message.
Kari and I arrived safely in Arizona June 24th, picked up a loaner minivan in Tucson, and visited supporters between Tucson and Phoenix. I had the privilege to preach at Grace EFC in Mesa that Sunday. We met with the team coming to the Summit in Budapest in 2012 and began planning with Sam Rotman, concert pianist, for outreach concerts in Budapest next Spring. We drove north to visit Kari’s folks in northern Arizona, then over to Albuquerque for a spontaneous meeting with Gladys Tsao-Wu, and finally on to a family reunion in Estes Park, CO. We are blessed to have 17 members of our extended family among those giving financially, so that we can serve in Hungary. We’re thankful for our godly heritage. We spent last Sunday with the believers at Calvary Bible EFC in Boulder, CO, my home church from 1963 to 1985. We had joyful reunions and reminders of God’s kindnesses to us in the investments that others made in our lives and that we in turn want to make in the lives of Hungarians.
We will be on home-assignment through the middle of October. Please pray that we would be alert to God’s leading, instruments of his intentions, and dependents of his design. Thank you in advance for your prayer and financial support. May God be glorified in our partnership: sent and senders, each one obedient to God’s commands.
In Christ, Brad and Kari
