Magyar Mullets June 2006 update
Dear Family and Friends,
Summertime greetings from Budapest! June weather varied between something we’d expect in November and a week of August heat. School wrapped up the first week of June—there were graduation parties, language class wrap-ups, and several trips to the airport. The Humphrys and Olsens left on home-assignment; Elaine Boardley and Amy Yoder got residence permits and will also return to the US to raise support this summer. The rest of the team is immersed in intensive language courses, facilitating English language camps, and doing our various jobs.
Whitney is working a summer job in Ft. Collins, Colorado, with third-culture kids. She’ll be attending the College of the Ozarks this fall in their nursing program. Kelsey is in Keszthely, Hungary, again this summer for five weeks serving at Speak Out—an English language evangelistic outreach camp facilitated by Campus Crusade for Christ. Let me thank all of you who invested in her life by making this ministry to Hungarian students a reality for her. She comes back to Budapest this Friday to get a new passport, so that our family can apply for residence permits again. Peter and Jacob have ten mowing jobs and some pet-sitting assignments that are keeping them busy this summer. Peter has been playing regularly on the church worship team and is also playing for the English camp singing times. Jacob is improving on percussion and is likely to lend his talents in the coming weeks.
Kari and I wrapped up with our small group for the summer and are praying for direction again come September. We have our own residence permits to apply for now and would ask you to pray for us in that. We’ve had several occasions to meet with and encourage our teammates this past month. I see how God has uniquely positioned our team in various ministries to accomplish His purposes. I pray the component parts of our works of service will build the body of Christ, and that we’ll begin to see a cluster of healthy churches established in and around Budapest.
Several opportunities lie ahead for us with respect to the Olimpia Ministry Center. There has been such an increase in the number of people using the coffeehouse area that it is in need of expansion and renewal. Outside the corner of our building, the municipality of Budapest is already digging the hole for a station along the fourth subway line. (Measuring instruments will be mounted to our building to see if it starts shaking when the tunnel machine is digging. Scary!) Our God has perfectly located us here in Kelenfold and provided a public transit system to bring an estimated 30,000 people daily by our doors. Many of these people have had little opportunity to hear the gospel.
I was afforded several days this past month to help people move and build things. Zoltan Szolnoki is a church planter for the Hungarian Evangelical Church living in the town of Törökbálint. They just bought the ground floor of a house and are remodeling it for their family. Alex and Orsi Konya also moved from their apartment after eight years in the same place. Please pray for them to find another place to rent or for God to make a way for them to purchase their first place.
Step by step God has provided for us to improve and renovate areas of our building to better serve His purposes for it. As stewards of this facility, it is apparent that another undertaking is needed. We’d like to begin a large project to put in rooms above our existing classrooms and expand the coffeehouse into the area we gained in the lawsuit. Pray for the necessary permits, plans, funds, workers, communications, and cooperation to come together for us. We recognize God moves in the hearts of His people to accomplish His purposes and we willfully submit to His leading in this. Pray for our proper discernment in these matters in the months to come. Thank you for praying for us.
We want to honor the Lord in sharing answers to prayer:
Richest Blessings,
Brad, for all of us

We want to honor the Lord in sharing answers to prayer:
- Whitney’s teeth seem to be healing fine.
- Our teammates got extended residence permits.
- A couple of Muslim ladies placed their faith in Christ this last week—Oasis Project fruit.
- There are 11 teens participating in an English Day Camp at the Olimpia this week and next.
Richest Blessings,
Brad, for all of us
