Brad: I grew up in a Christian family. My oldest brother shared with me the good news of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I placed my trust in Him when I was five years old. I'm presently working alongside the Hungarian Evangelical Church in Budapest. Kari: I placed my trust in Jesus Christ for salvation when I heard the gospel at the age of 14 at a Young Life camp.

Magyar Mullets May 2008 Newsletter

I know the LORD can do all things; no plan of His can be thwarted. (Job 42:2)

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for praying for us and for the issues I brought up last month. I’m happy to report that the Lord is sustaining us—we’re experiencing it most tangibly in your solidarity with us in this ministry. Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support.

This letter comes a little later than usual as I was hoping to have something new to report concerning the property tax issue on the ministry center. We submitted the required tax forms to the XI district government last month and got a registered letter back from them a couple days ago. It appears that we owe property tax for 2007 and 2008. The grand total is $38,433.55 tax due with today’s exchange rate. I imagined it could be as much as $120,000 without fines since 2003. A fascinating kindness of the Lord in our affairs is this: Had we had a legal disposition of the property from the date of our purchase in 2000, we would have already paid out almost $150,000 in property tax. As it stands, because the legal disposition of the property was not settled until 2006, we didn’t have a fixed number of square meters to report on until January 1st of 2007. That makes us eligible to pay property tax for last year and this year. We must pay at least $28,645 by July 8th and the balance by September 15th. Our yearly property tax will be around $20,000. Needless to say, we will render unto them what the Lord has kindly determined is due them. Will you pray and consider how God might use you to help us meet this responsibility? Donations to Reach Global Budapest Ministry Center #5848. It will be interesting to discover what new inroads into the community this privilege will afford us.

On another front, I really enjoyed preaching twice this past month. God continues to inform our minds and methods from His Word. Early Tuesday mornings, a bunch of guys meet for a church-based-training regimen together in the Kelefold church. We will start another round in September with the intention of developing more, spiritually mature men in the church. We also wrapped up our weekly English Club meeting and participated in a picnic with all the students and their families.

Thank you for praying for the residents of Tükörhegy. The Children’s Day celebration the last Sunday of May was well attended. Our small group, along with our boys helped pull off an activity filled afternoon in the park of the housing community called Tükörhegy. I had the chance to share my testimony and our desire to see a church established in the community with three different men over the course of the afternoon. I think the occasion afforded us credibility and a building trust among the leaders in the community.

On the family front: the boys have finished another year of high school. Jacob will be mowing lawns and working out all summer for soccer and basketball season in the fall. Peter will be working a summer job with a best friend in Seattle to pay for his plane ticket there and back. The girls are back in Hungary for three weeks. Whitney's boyfriend Clint came along to meet the family. All seven of us will drive to northern Greece for a family vacation. The dog spotted a trespasser in our yard one evening, so I gathered up the prickly rascal and brought him into the house to show everyone. He came out of a ball to show his face.

We covet your prayers and thank you for your generosity unto the Lord on our behalf.

Glory Be to Our Great God!

Brad for all of us.
